Masonry Mentorship Program
There are over 30 high school and other CTE pre-apprenticeship programs in the State of Florida. The programs range in length from one to four years and cover such subjects as construction technology, job-site safety practices, with some offering masonry block and brick laying training.
The Masonry Mentorship program pairs successful masonry contractors who are willing to donate their time and share their experiences as industry leaders with these students. Each contractor essentially adopts a program in their local area. Through the contractors’ efforts, students learn what a trade professional looks like and what it takes to become a business owner. A pipeline of opportunity is developed to enable students to transition from classroom to job-site. These students graduate with a skill set that includes job-site safety practices, basic masonry skills and valuable certifications such as OSHA 10, Scaffold and Fall Protection, and various other skills.
